Azalea Southern Indica
Southern Indica azaleas are a Southern landscape favorite, with Formosa, George Tabor, and GG Gerbing among the most popular varieties in the Piedmont of NC. They bloom with large flowers in the spring and should be planted in afternoon shade. These azaleas are maintainable in the 5’ range, making them great for foundation plantings, shaded borders, and classic Southern garden beds. Azaleas generally prefer moist, well-drained, acidic soil and benefit from pruning after flowering when shaping is needed.
